Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a common cause of infertility in women. Often taking some time to reach a diagnosis, women with endometriosis may have heavy and very painful periods, although sometimes there are no symptoms at all.

In endometriosis, there is abnormal growth of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus. Common places for this to occur include the outside of the uterus, bowel, ovaries and fallopian tubes, however endometriosis has been found to occur in many places in the body.

What causes endometriosis?

The cause of endometriosis is unclear although there is evidence of immune dysregulation and inflammation also plays a key role. High oestrogen levels is also a common occurrence in women with endometriosis.

What causes pain in endometriosis?

Women with endometriosis may experience severe pain with their period as the endometrial tissue responds to hormonal influences and bleeds along with the endometrial lining in the uterus, causing inflammation and discomfort in the area affected.

How can natural fertility management help?

Natural fertility management for the treatment of endometriosis focuses on reducing inflammation and supporting reproductive health so that pregnancy can be acheived. Herbal medicines along with nutritional supplements are needed to help reduce excess hormones and restore balance in the reproductive system. Endometriosis is not something that can be treated quickly, although over the months we can see significant improvement.
